The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) is a non-profit organization established by the Federal Republic of Germany with the objective of promoting international research cooperations. AvH funds highly qualified PhD holders who are non-residents in Germany at the time of application to spend extended periods of time to conduct research in laboratories of any qualified and established German academic partner. The fellowships are specifically designed to promote long-lasting scientific networks and collaborations even after the official stay in Germany.
The Humboldt Foundation supports an active world-wide network of scholars. Individual sponsorship during periods spent in Germany and longstanding follow-up contacts have been the hallmarks of the foundation's work since 1953.
